Bourses maintain gaining streak

Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE) on Tuesday also witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large- cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 41.88 points or 0.72 per cent to settle at 5,884.79. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 0.68 point to finish at 1,270.60. But the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, closed the day with 2.69 points down at 2,170.25.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 20,088.25 million on the country’s premier bourse which was Taka 18,200.78 million.

Gainers took a modest lead over the losers, as out of 361 issues traded, 164 closed green, 151 in the red and 46 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

Beximco topped the turnover chart, followed by Lanka Bangla Finance, NRBC Bank, Prime Bank and GREENDELT.

AB Bank was the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 10 per cent while ARAMITCEM was the worst loser, losing 5.86 percent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -advancing 134.52 points to settle at 17,070.18 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX gaining 81.72 points to close at 10,286.19.

Of the issues traded, 146 advanced, 119 declined and 29 remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city’s bourse traded 5.42 crore shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Taka 149.30 crore.
