Boro paddy transplantation work in Panchagarh district nears completion with the hope of bumper production. The farmers of the district are now busy nurturing the paddy fields with much enthusiasm.
The favourable climate condition and adequate supply of high-quality seed increase hope of getting bumper production.
According to the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) official sources, 30,125 hectares of land have been brought under Boro cultivation in all five Upazilas with the production target of 1,33,750 tonnes this season.
DAE deputy director Md Mizanur Rahman said that Boro transplantation on 90 percent of targeted lands has been completed and the rest would be accomplished within one week.
The Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) distributed high-quality Boro seed to the farmers of the district.
The department has distributed Boro seed, fertilizers and other agriculture inputs among 200 farmers at free of cost to make the cultivation programme a success.
Different commercial banks including Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan bank also has been distributing easy term loan to the farmers.
The DAE has given training on modern technology to the farmers for boosting Boro production.
