Famous actress of Bangladesh, Bobita received lifetime honours in Meril-Prothom Alo 2018. This honour was given to her in the 20th edition of the Meril-Prothom Alo Awards, 2017 on Friday evening. Cultural personality Syed Hasan Imam handed over the honour and crest to the actress Bobita.
Meril-Prothom Alo Award, 2017, is being held at the Hall of Fame at Bangabandhu International Conference Center, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. This arrangement has become a milestone due to the presence of the spectacular display and the presence of the country`s leading stars. All the young, old and famous stars appeared.
In order to contribute to the country`s culture, the film has been given to Bobita as `Life Honor`. Bobita is known as Farida Akhter to her family and relatives. At first, her name was `Subarna`.
Bobita is best known for her performance in Satyajit Ray`s Distant Thunder, a novel adaptation about the Bengal famine of 1943, which won the Golden Bear prize at the 23rd Berlin International Film Festival in 1973. Since then, She was active in the 1970s through 1990s as an actress in Bangladeshi films.
The internationally renowned actress, Bobita was born on 30 July 1953 in Bagerhat district. But she was Inspired by her elder sister Shuchanda.In 1968, she made her debut on the movie screen as a child artist in Zaheer Raihan`s `Sansar`.
Satyajit Ray`s `Ashni Sankat` starring Cupid wife played an ennobling role and earned international fame. She was fluent in all types of rural, urban or social type of films.
Bobita acted more than two and a half films. She has received National Film Award for Best Actress for `Badi theke Begum` (1975), `Nayanmoni` (1976), `Bashundhara` (1977), `Ramer Sumati` (1985) and `Pokhamkar Gharbasti` (1996).
