A Dhaka court today fixed January 17 to present further arguments in a case filed over killing publisher and blogger Faisal Arefin Dipon.

Judge Mojibur Rahman of the Special Anti-Terrorism Tribunal of Dhaka set the date for Monday. So far, 23 people have given testimony in this case out of 26 witnesses.

Earlier on January 4, six accused, who are currently in police custody pleaded not guilty before the court and sought justice.

On October 31, 2015, miscreants hacked Dipan to death at Aziz Super Market at Shahbagh. On the same day, his wife Razia Rahman filed a murder case against unknown persons at Shahbagh police station.

On October 13 last year, the court framed charges in the case and ordered the trial to begin. Earlier, the investigation officer of the case DB Assistant Commissioner Fazlur Rahman filed a charge sheet against 8 people following an investigation on November 15, 2018, in the Dhaka CMM court.

Six out of eight accused in the case are in jail. Every accused detained in jail has given a confessional statement in accordance with Section 164 of the Rules of Procedure. There are also two other fugitives.

The case was handed over to the special anti-terrorism tribunal for trial on January 8 last year. After accepting the charge sheet of the case on March 19 last year, the court issued arrest warrants against the two fugitives Syed Ziaul Haque and Akram.

According to the charge sheet, Syed Ziaul Haque was the mastermind of Dipan's murder. He trained accused Khairul, Abdus Sabur, and Moinul before the murder.
