Biman cancels flights for passenger crisis

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has canceled the flights due to the passenger crisis. The airlines will not operate any flights on Tuesday, confirmed Tahera Khandaker, Biman’s Deputy General Manager (Public Relations), to Daily Bangladesh, saying, “Four flights will be operated on the domestic route on Wednesday.”
Tahera Khandaker said two flights would be operated on the Syedpur route, one on the Sylhet route and one on Chattogram route on Wednesday.
However, no US Bangla and Novoair flights were canceled till 12:00 pm, she also said.
“The authorities are working to reduce fares to alleviate the passenger crisis,” she also said, however, could not say how much the fare will be reduced.
Earlier, domestic flights to Syedpur, Chattogram, and Sylhet started operating from Monday. On this day, Biman Bangladesh Airlines carried only 24 passengers on the Dhaka-Syedpur-Dhaka flight. The remaining 10 flights were canceled due to a lack of passengers.
However, two private airlines, US Bengal and Novoair carried more than 60 percent of passengers on Monday. On this day, 4 flights of US Bengal were canceled, but no Novoair flights were canceled.
