Biman adds new aircraft ‘Dhrubotara’ to its fleet on Tuesday
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has added a new state-flag Dash 8-Q400 model aircraft to its fleet. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has named the aircraft ‘Dhrubotara’.
The first of three aircraft purchased on a G2G basis between the governments of Bangladesh and Canada has been added to Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ fleet from Tuesday.
Md. Mokabbir Hossain, managing director (MD) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), confirmed the matter to Daily Bangladesh.
He said a state-flag new Dash 8-Q400 model aircraft has been added to Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ fleet today. Two more aircraft of the same model will be added to the fleet soon. As a result, the airline will be able to increase its flight frequency on domestic and short-haul international routes.
It is learned that the new aircraft ‘Dhrubotara’ built by de Havilland, a famous Canadian aircraft manufacturer, has 74 seats.
Equipped with eco-friendly and facilities, the aircraft is equipped with HEPA filter technology, which completely purifies the air inside the aircraft by destroying bacteria, viruses and other germs in just 4 minutes - which makes the journey of the passengers safer.
Besides, the aircraft will have more leg space, LED lighting and wide windows will make travel more comfortable and enjoyable.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines currently has 19 aircraft in its fleet. Of these, 14 are own and 5 are leased. Out of its own 14, Boeing 777-300 ER 4, 4 Boeing 787-8, 2 Boeing 787-9, 2 Boeing 737 and 2 Dash-8.
