A month-long 31st traditional victory fair began on MA Aziz Stadium premises in the  port city Cahttogram with a view to informing the new generation about heroic tales during the nine-month-long bloody struggle of the country’s Liberation War.

Chairman of Muktijudder Bijoy Mela Parishad and Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel inaugurated the fair by igniting the victory flame in presence of hundreds of freedom fighters and people from all walks of life.

Barrister Nowfel in his speech said the traditional victory fair has been playing a very important role in informing the youth folks of the glorious War of Liberation.

“The new generation could not be able to know about the fact if such victory fair was not arranged”, he said.

He said there is no other country in the world that had to shed such blood to achieve independence.

Acting President of Chattogram city AL Muktijudda Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury was also present at the event.

Valiant Freedom Fighters of the city in cooperation with former city Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury had been organizing the fair since 1989 with the basic objective to focus the supreme sacrifice made by the heroic sons of the soil for Independent Bangladesh, highlighting true history, culture and significance of the glorious war before the future generation.

Over 200 stalls and 15 pavilions have been set up on the fair compound.
