Rangpur farmers are popping up the cultivation of Napier grass due to mach profit in lower cost. Farm owners in particular are meeting the demand for cows by cultivating this grass. Depending on the feed syndicate, the cost is high and the farm is not profitable. As a result, low-cost high-yield grass cultivation is increasing in eight upazilas of the district.

Employment and self-reliance are increasing through animal husbandry in Rangpur region left behind in poverty and employment. But due to the syndication of the feed traders, the dependence on granular food is diminishing day by day. Demand for Napier grass, straw and straw is increasing.

Farmers and ranchers said the educated unemployed here are benefiting from the farm. People are getting employment opportunities. Due to the ferocity of the feed traders, the farmers are cultivating the Napier grass, reducing the grains for cattle. Due to low cost and available in every three months, many of the small capital are being interested to cultivate Napier grass. Napier grass is being sold at tk 15-20 per bundle in hats of the district.

District Livestock Officer Shah Jalal Khandaker said the farmers are reducing their dependence on rich made food. They are preparing livestock feed in natural ways. The official said they were more interested in raw grass.
