Bhutan wants to import internet bandwidth from Bangladesh

Bhutan has expressed interest in importing broadband internet from Bangladesh. Bhutan’s Ambassador to Bangladesh Rinchen Kuentsyl said Bangladesh is not only a close friend of Bhutan but also an important trading partner. Bangladesh is a major source of Bhutan’s spiritual heritage.
The Bhutanese ambassador expressed his interest in a courtesy call on Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar on Wednesday. The minister assured all possible cooperation in exporting broadband internet bandwidth to Bhutan.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues of mutual interest, especially technical and commercial issues in the field of telecommunications, including the Internet.
The Posts and Telecommunications Minister described the existing excellent friendly relations between Bangladesh and Bhutan as very significant and historic. He highlighted Bhutan’s cooperation in the Great War of Liberation and its role as the first country to recognize independent Bangladesh and expressed deep gratitude to Bhutan.
He said the geography, history, heritage and way of life of Bangladesh and Bhutan are almost the same. He highlighted Bangladesh’s progress in the development of digital technology in the country, saying “Bangladesh is one of the few countries in the world in the development of digital technology.”
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visionary Digital Bangladesh program has set an example for the world to follow,” he mentioned.
Mustafa Jabbar, a pioneer in the development of computer technology in the country, said, “We have brought digital connectivity to every UP in the country. We have taken initiative to reach every village in the country. Bangladesh is now exporting internet bandwidth.”
At the time, the Ambassador spoke of his efforts to take the historical relationship between Bhutan and Bangladesh to a unique height in the days to come. He lauded the continued progress of Bangladesh, especially in the field of digital technology.
