Ben Stokes took an indefinite break from cricket in July due to mental health issues. However, the Durham cricketer has been returning to cricket. The English all-rounder has been added to the squad for The Ashes against Australia – which creates a great chance for the English to win the Ashes.
Ben Stokes also played for the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred on July 26 with an injury. Then he made the announcement of his break from cricket. As a result, he did not play the series against India at home. Stokes also not playing in the current T20 World Cup.
However, keeping an eye on The Ashes, Stokes has already come down to the field and doing light exercises to make himself match fit. When the England team leaves for Australia on November 4, he will also be in the team.
“I took this break to prioritize mental health, and this time my finger is fine,” Ben Stokes told the media about his return. “I can’t wait to meet my teammates and go out on the field with them. I am ready against Australia.”
Ashley Giles, managing director of the England men’s cricket team, says Ben Stokes had successful surgery on his finger, and in the last week, after many discussions between Ben, me, our medical team and our management team, Ben has told me he is ready to return to cricket. He is set to play in the Ashes, and play an important role.
