Belarus ordered to stop football leagues

The whole world has stopped and everyone keeps themself at home quarantine to avoid the infection of deadly coronavirus. While sports all over the world are on hold, Belarus's top football and ice hockey leagues are continuing to play in front of live audiences.

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko explained the reasons for continuing the football amid the epidemic. Because he wasn't worried at all about coronavirus. He even advised the people of his country to drink vodka to fight against Coronavirus.

But FIFPro, the world footballers' organization has expressed anger over the incident. The fact that Belarus has continued to play football is not understandable. That's why FIFPro general secretary Jon Bair-Hoffman has called for a halt to football.

"We are calling for the same action (Belarus) to take precautionary measures for football like rest of the world," he said. How it could go at all is not understandable.

Belarus is not a member of FIFPro. However, FIFPro will appeal to FIFA World Cup and European football agency UEFA to take stern action against Belarus.

Meanwhile, the Belarus Football Federation is also taking financial advantage of the league broadcast because the game is closed in most of the countries. They have signed a new agreement to broadcast the game in ten countries, including Russia, India.

In the country of the former Soviet Republic, there are 9.5 million people. Of these, 100 were infected by COVID-19, no deaths reported so far.
