IGP Dr. Javed Patwary on Saturday has directed the police force to work with modest, tolerant, and professional with general people in preventing the coronavirus infection.

Sohail Rana, AIG (media) of the police headquarters confirmed the matter to Daily Bangladesh.

In order to prevent coronavirus infection, the government has directed everyone to stay at home quarantine. While implementing this directive, some policemen were involved in controversial activities. News and pictures – of the people being punished, severely beaten with sticks for going out streets for emergency work – are circulating on all media including social media. As a result, Police activities were criticized. In view of this, the IGP gave the order, said AIG Sohail Rana.

He said the message of the police chief has been conveyed to about two lakh policemen through various means including mobile, mail, fax. IGP also spoke to various unit heads of police through phone and group-based video conference privately.

In his message to the police members, IGP said that cooperate with those involved in all kinds of emergency services like medicines, commodities, foods, banks, mobile phones, electricity. Be modest, tolerant and professional with people while on duty.

It is learned that the situation has improved a lot since the IGP message. In addition, the police personnel who had misbehaved with the people at the field level were also taken into consideration.
