German football giant Bayern Munich announced a partnership with the parent company of TikTok, however, the fans are showing negative reactions on the matter.
The Bayern Munich authorities have signed an agreement with Douyin, the parent company of TikTok. Douyin is a China-based video-sharing social site which global version is called TikTok.
The agreement was signed between the two parties on May 14 (Thursday). According to the agreement, TikTok will be the official sponsor of FC Bayern Munich. From now on, the Bavarians will use the name and logo of TikTok on their jerseys. In return, TikTok will work to increase Bayern’s brand value in China.
“FC Bayern Munich is seen as the most innovative football club in China,” Bayern president Rouven Kasper said in a statement. “Our partnership with Douyin will take this idea one step further.”
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich opened a TikTok account last month. In less than a month, the number of their followers has crossed one and a half million. Bayern stars Robert Lewandowski and Alphonso Davies also opened a TikTok account.
Although the Bayern authorities are happy, the supporters are very angry with the decision of the club. They are venting their anger on social media Twitter. One fan tweeted about it – “please don’t put a Tik logo on our jersey. That would be awful.” Many have also commented that the Bavarian jersey would look ridiculous with the TikTok logo.
