Different areas of Kotalipara in Gopalganj have been declared voluntary lockdown to prevent coronavirus transmission. Barricades have been made with bamboo and tree trunk to make the roads inaccessible. Which made different reactions among the residents.

Locals of Tarashi, Kushala, Kayakha, Kurpala, Pabnapar, Uttarpara, Baluhar, Unsia, Ratal, Perkon, Radhaganj, Kandi have declared lockdown in their area. Due to the lockdown, traffic movement has been blocked in these areas.

Mixed reactions have been observed among the peoples over this initiative. Jahidul Islam, a local said, “Everyone should follow the government directives to prevent coronavirus. But that’s way the lockdown is not right. Emergency service providers transport may face barrier.”

In this regard, UNO SM Mahfuzur Rahman said, “Setting barricades on the road will not be right. If the locals want, they can deploy guards. Besides, they can arrange handwashing system. But action will be taken if someone set barricade with bamboo or tree unnecessarily.”
