Barishal University starts online classes

Barishal University (BU) has started online classes in 24 departments on Wednesday after 3 and a half months suspension due to ongoing coronavirus pandemic. University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Sadequl Arefin expected that more than 50 percent of the students will participate in the online classes.

Barishal University Teachers Association General Secretary and Assistant Professor of Physics Khorshed Alam said that due to coronavirus pandemic, he took two classes every week. With the launch of university classes online, the pace will increase from now on. He said that experimentally 50 to 60 percent of the students were present in the live classes. He thinks regular online classes will have half of the total students.

Dr. Khorshed Alam said that the main problem of the students is the weak speed of the mobile internet network. Second, many do not have smartphones or laptops. Third, the data that students have to buy to be connected online is expensive. He has demanded an 'interest-free education loan' for students.
