Banks to remain closed on August 1, 4

Bangladesh Bank today said banks will remain closed next Sunday and Wednesday (August 1, 4) considering the current situation of coronavirus infection in the country and ongoing lockdown.

However, transactions will run from 10 am to 2.30 pm in the remaining three days (August 2, 3 and 5).

Bangladesh Bank offsite supervision department's general manager Anwarul Islam issued a circular in this regard on Wednesday.

The circular state that banks will be closed on July 1 (Sunday) and July 4 (Wednesday) considering the current situation of coronavirus infections. Besides, transactions can be done on July 2, 3 and 5 till 2.30 pm. Banks will be open for three days till 4 pm.

Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Abu Farah Nasser said that in the Corona situation, banking services are available in a limited range due to the strict restrictions announced by the government. However, Bangladesh Bank has taken this decision to curb the coronavirus cases.
