The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has suspended the bank account transactions of Omar Faruq Chowdhury, who was recently relieved from the post of the Jubo League chairman. At the same time, bank accounts of his wife, three sons, and two business intuitions were also suspended.

The NBR recently issued orders on the power of section 116 of the Income Tax Ordinance 1984. As a result, they cannot withdraw or transfer any amount of money.

In a letter sent to the banks, NBR said that no money could be withdrawn or transferred from the bank account of Omar Faruk Chowdhury, his wife Sheikh Sultana Rekha, son Abid Chowdhury, Muktadir Ahmed Chowdhury, and Ishtiaq Ahmed Chowdhury.

At the same time, NBR also suspended the transactions of the account of their business firm Lake View Properties and Rao Construction.

The letter addresses their current address at Eastern Heritage Road, Dhanmondi 3 / A, Ramna's Bangabandhu Avenue house and Sutrapur in Raozan, Chattogram.

Earlier on October 3, Bangladesh Bank summoned Omar Faruk Chowdhury's bank account. Bangladesh Bank's Financial Intelligence Unit sent a letter to the banks to send all the accounting information in his name within three business days.

Earlier, a travel ban was imposed on Omar Faruq Chowdhury in addition to summoning bank accounts. Since then, Omar Faruq has gone into hiding. Under the circumstances, the organization has started preparing for the conference without him. Without him, the Presidium meeting of the Jubo League was held too.
