Bangladesh’s COVID-19 tally surpasses 8 lakh

With 1,710 new Covid-19 cases, the number of total Covid-19 infections in Bangladesh has risen rose to 800,540.
Besides, 36 more deaths linked to the disease have been registered in the last 24 hours, taking the toll so far to 12,619, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
A total of 18,178 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours. The current positivity rate is 9.41 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.46 percent.
Among the 36 deceased, 25 were men and 11 women. Of them four were between 31-40 years old; five within 41-50; nine between 51-60 and 18 were above 60 years old, the release added.
Meanwhile, 1,567 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 7,40,372 and the recovery rate at 92.48 percent.
