Bangladeshis among 267 rescued from Mediterranean

Tunisian coastguard on Thursday rescued 267 migrants from the Mediterranean who tried to sail from Libya to Europe. Most of the rescued migrants are said to be Bangladeshis.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has confirmed the matter. - reports i24news.tv.
According to the Tunisian coastguard, the navy rescued the migrants and handed them over to the IOM and the Red Crescent.
The IOM said the rescued migrants were being quarantined at a hotel on the Tunisian island of Djerba.
The IOM added that since January, more than 1000 migrants have been caught in Tunisia trying to reach Europe from Libya and the number of departures is rising.
According to the United Nations, at least 760 migrants died while crossing the Mediterranean to Europe between January 1 to May 31.
