A Bangladeshi was shot dead by the members of Border Security Force (BSF) of India at Daikhawa border of Hatibandha Upazila in Lalmonirhat on early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Shafikul Islam, 22, a cattle trader and son of Jainal Abedin from Amjhol village of the Upazila.

Director of BGB Battalion Lalmonirhat-15, Lt Col Golam Morshed said that BSF members of 100-Paglibari camp opened fire on a group of cattle traders when they went to bring cows through the border around 4 am and left Shafikul dead on the spot.

Gotamari UP chairman Abul Kashem Sabu said the BSF members took away the body. BGB commissioned a letter to BSF to return the body.
