The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has expressed its desire to host the 2027 World Cup alone.
Earlier, Bangladesh hosted an ODI and T20 World Cup. Bangladesh co-hosted the 2011 ODI World Cup and alone hosted the 2014 T20 World Cup.
In the 2011 World Cup, Bangladesh hosted 8 matches including the opening ceremony. Then, by organizing the 2014 T20 World Cup alone, Bangladesh once again caught the eye of the cricket world.
Now, the BCB wants to fully host a World Cup in Bangladesh.
“Bangladesh wants to host the World Cup,” BCB chief executive Nizam Uddin Chowdhury Sujan informed, however, he did not mention which world cup.
Later, BCB director Jalal Yunus told the media that they want to “host the 2027 ODI World Cup alone”.
The ICC has finalized the men’s global tournament in an eight-year cycle from 2024 to 2031. Of these – there are two ODI World Cups, in 2027 and 2031. There are four T20 World Cups – 2024, 2026, 2028 and 2030.
The ICC has decided to host the Mini World Cup Champions Trophy with a total of eight teams.
This competition will start again in 2025 and 2029. There are also youth teams and women’s world cups at this time.
