Bangladesh was scheduled to play a three-match Test series in Sri Lanka in July-August this year. However, the series was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. If all goes well, the series could be held in mid-October. In that case, the Tigers can leave the country for Sri Lanka in the last week of September.

The original Bangladesh tour of Sri Lanka, comprising three Tests, could now become a combination of Tests and an additional three T20Is with the consent of the two boards. The two countries' cricket boards are currently discussing the series.

Recently, the Vice President of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC), Mohan de Silva, said that the tour of Bangladesh will include a T20 series. However, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) wants one of the Tests to be replaced by the three T20Is.

On the other hand, Akram Khan, chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) Cricket Operations Committee, said the decision on the series has not been finalized yet. However, we are thinking of leaving the country for Sri Lanka on September 24.

He added that a decision could be finalized within a week. The first Test could start in mid-October. The BCB is thinking of sending the team together for the Test and T20 series.

Bangladesh cricketers will have to stay in quarantine for 14 days in Sri Lanka. BCB's high-performance squad may also travel with the senior team to help them with practice matches as SLC has reportedly informed the BCB that they cannot provide a team for tour games.
