Bangladesh has earned a recorded record export income in the just-concluded month. It is learned that goods worth $417.50 crore (Tk 35,610 crore) have been exported during the month.

A report released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) on Monday revealed this.

Sources said that Bangladesh earned Tk 417.5 million by exporting various products in September of the current 2021-22 fiscal year. Which is 38 percent higher compared to last year September's $301.80 crore.

In the first three months of the current fiscal year, Bangladesh earned from exports $11.02 billion, which is 11.37 percent higher than the same period last year's $9.89 billion and 5.65 percent higher than the periodic target of $10.43 billion.

In July-September, 2021, some $9.05 billion came from garment items, which registered 11.48 percent year-on-year growth.

Some $5.16 billion came from knitwear shipment, which posted a 15.69 percent year-on-year growth.

Woven export also registered a strong positive growth after nearly one and a half years with the reopening of the economies, especially in the western world.

Woven garments fetched $3.89 billion in the three months to September this year, a 6.35 percent year-on-year rise, according to EPB data.

Industry insiders say that when the Corona epidemic started in the country last year, garment exports collapsed. Exports have increased this year as the situation has improved.

According to the EPB, the government has set a target of exporting goods worth $4.35 billion for the current financial year. In the last fiscal year 2020-21, Bangladesh's export earning was $3,876 crore.
