Bangladesh sees lowest Covid-19 deaths in six and a half months

Bangladesh reported 35 more deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours which is the lowest deaths from the pandemic in the last six and a half months, taking the tally from the pandemic to 27,007. 

On the other hand, the total caseload stood at 15,34,440 as 2,074 more tested positive for the virus during the same time.

It was said in a press release signed by professor Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration), Directorate General of Heal10th Services (DGHS) on Tuesday.

Dhaka division alone saw 15 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours while Chattogram division reported 8 deaths and Khulna division recorded 4 deaths during the same time.

DGHS said 6.54 percent of the 31,724 samples collected in 24 hours were tested positive.

The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning, 96.89 percent recovered, while 1.76 percent died.

The highest single day deaths 264 from Covid-19 were reported on Tuesday (August 10).

The first Covid-19 cases were reported in Bangladesh on March 8, 2020 while the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
