Bangladesh sees lowest Covid-19 deaths in 3 months

Bangladesh reported 38 more deaths from Covid-19 in the preceding 24 hours which is the lowest death record in three months, taking the tally from the pandemic to 26,832. 

On the other hand, the total caseload stood at 15,27,215 as 2,325 more tested positive for the virus during the same time.

It was said in a press release signed by professor Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration), Directorate General of Heal10th Services (DGHS) on Friday.

Dhaka division alone saw 17 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours while Chattogram division reported 10 deaths during the same time. Among the dead, 20 were male and 18 were female.

DGHS said 8.65 percent of the 26,878 samples collected in 24 hours were tested positive.

The recovery count rose to 14,72,067 after another 3,856 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the same time.

The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning, 96.39 percent recovered, while 1.76 percent died.

The DGHS said among the total 26,832 fatalities, 11,677 deaths occurred in Dhaka division, 5,420 in Chattogram, 1,985 in Rajshahi, 3,484 in Khulna, 918 in Barishal, 1,207 in Sylhet, 1,328 in Rangpur and 813 in Mymensingh division.

The highest single day deaths 264 from Covid-19 were reported on Tuesday (August 10).

The first Covid-19 cases were reported in Bangladesh on March 8, 2020 while the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
