Bangladesh sees lowest Covid-19 deaths in 10 months

Bangladesh on Friday reported 7 new fatalities to record the lowest single-day death toll from COVID-19 in 10 months. With the latest, the death toll from the pandemic rises to 8094 in the country. Earlier, 15 deaths related to COVID-19 were reported yesterday. 

Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 5,34,407 as 454 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, 509 COVID patients were detected yesterday.  

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release on Friday. 

According to the release, the recovery count rose to 478,960 after another 414 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period. 

A total of 12,075 samples were tested at 200 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. 

The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases. 

The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 218 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of this afternoon, a total of 102,110,605 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 2,202,672 while 73,961,553 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data.
