Bangladesh sees highest daily Covid-19 deaths in 48 days

Bangladesh 67 more deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. It is the highest daily death count in the last 48 days. Earlier on May 2, 69 Covid patients died.

With the latest, the death toll from the pandemic rose to 13,466. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 8,48,027 as 3,057 new cases were confirmed during the period.

The daily database on Covid-19 reported this in a press release signed by Professor Dr. Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday (June 19, 2021).

About 16,964 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours, yielding a positivity rate of 18.02 percent.

The recovery count rose to 7,80,146 after another 1,725 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day. The recovery count stands at 92 percent while the mortality rate stands at 1.59 percent.

Earlier on Thursday, 54 deaths linked to COVID-19, and 3,883 fresh cases were reported. 

Bangladesh recorded the highest number of COVID-19 fatalities on April 19 this year when the virus killed 112 people in a day.
