Bangladesh has reported 56 more Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 11,934, according to the official figures.
Besides, 1,386 Covid-19 cases were confirmed during the period. With the latest, the tally of infections has surged to 7,73,513.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) informed this in a press release on Sunday (May 9, 2021).
It said a total of 16,915 samples have been collected in 24 hours.
The recovery count rose to 7,10,126 after another 3,329 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past 24 hours.
The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning, 91.81 percent recovered, while 1.54 percent died.
Earlier, 45 deaths and 1,285 cases were reported related to the disease yesterday.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
