Bangladesh sees 35 deaths, over 1500 cases in a day

35 more Covid-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 5440 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 3,73,151 as 1520 new cases were confirmed during the period.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release issued on Wednesday.
According to the release, a total of 13,032 samples were tested at 108 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. Besides, the recovery count rose to 2,86,631 after another 1798 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Wednesday afternoon, a total of 36,082,331 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 1,055,286 while 27,172,522 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
