Bangladesh reports lowest Covid-19 deaths in 4 months

Covid-19 has claimed 17 more lives in the country in the previous 24 hours, which is the lowest in number of daily Covid deaths in four months, raising the deaths toll from the pandemic to 27,487.

On the other hand, the total caseload stood at 15,55,051 as 1,178 more tested positive for the virus during the same time, the lowest in four months.

It was said in a press release signed by professor Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday.

Barishal, Sylhet, Rangpur and Mymenshingh divisions reported no deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.

Among the 17 deceased, 10 were men and 7 women. 

The current positivity rate is 4.12 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 16.02 percent.

A total of 28,599 samples were tested at 815 centers across the country in 24 hours.

The recovery count rose to 15,14,962 after another 1,086 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the same time.

The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning, 97.42 percent recovered, while 1.77 percent died.

The highest single-day deaths 264 from Covid-19 were reported on Tuesday (August 10).

Bangladesh reported the first Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020, and the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
