Bangladesh reports 39 COVID-19 deaths, 2401 new cases

Thirty-nine more people died of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll from the pandemic to 3861 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 2,90,360 as 2401 new cases were confirmed during the period.

This information was given in a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday. 

According to the release, 3,624 more people have recovered from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 172,615. 

The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.  

The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Wednesday afternoon, a total of 22,882,731 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 797,428 while 15,530,827 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
