Bangladesh reports 2856 new cases, 50 more deaths

Fifty more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 2,801. The tally of infections in the country has surged to 2,16,110 after 2856 new COVID-19 cases were detected during the time. 

DGHS Additional Director General (administration) Prof Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure joining the daily health bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) through online on Thursday. 

A total of 12,398 samples have been tested at 80 authorized coronavirus testing labs across the country over the last 24 hours. Of these, 2856 have been diagnosed with coronavirus, bringing the total number of positive cases to 2,16,110, she said. 

Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 1,19,208 after another 2,006 patients were discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours, the health official said. 

The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
