Bangladesh reports 26 deaths, 1812 cases in 24hrs

26 more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 4759 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 3,39,332 as 1812 new cases were confirmed during the period.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) provided the information issuing a press release on Monday.
According to the release, a total of 14,216 samples were tested at 93 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. Besides, the recovery count rose to 2,43,155 after another 2512 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Monday afternoon, a total of 29,201,209 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 928,676 while 21,035,654 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
