Bangladesh reports 2,275 new Covid-19 cases, 17 deaths

As many as 17 people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 6,322 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 443,434 as 2,275 new cases were confirmed during the period. 

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release issued on Thursday. 

A total of 15,607 samples were tested at 117 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. The recovery count rose to 3,58,431 after another 1,709 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.

Among the total infections, 80.83 percent patients have recovered, while 1.43 percent died so far since the first COVID-19 positive cases were reported in the country on March 8.

Among the 17 deaths, 11 are male and six female, the press release said, adding one is in his 20s, one in his 30s, two are in their 40s, two in their 50s while 10 are above 60 years and one is between 11 to years.

According to the division-wise data, 12 deaths took place in Dhaka division and rests are in other divisions.

Among the total 6,322 deaths, 3,333 deaths occurred in Dhaka division, 1,228 in Chattogram division, 385 in Rajshahi division, 484 in Khulna division, 212 in Barishal division, 261 in Sylhet division, 289 in Rangpur division and 130 in Mymensingh division, according to the press release.

A total of 26,22,559 samples have so far been tested since the detection of the first COVID-19 cases in the country.
