Bangladesh reports 21 more deaths, 1383 cases

Twenty-one more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 5093 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 3,56,767 as 1,383 new cases were confirmed during the period. 

Among the 21 dead, 14 are men and 7 are women. All of them died at hospitals said a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed the information on Friday.

According to the release, a total of 12,473 samples were tested at 93 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 267,024 after another 1932 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period. 

The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases. 

The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances.
