Bangladesh reports 20 more deaths, 473 new cases

As many as 20 more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 8023 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 5,31,799 as 473 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release on Sunday.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, 575,521 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus around the world while 13,888 died from the pandemic in the last 24 hours. The United States has registered the highest number of deaths from the pandemic and infections during the period.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 218 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of this afternoon, a total of 99,387,307 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 2,131,716 while 71,456,195 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data.
