Despite the ongoing coronavirus epidemic, inward remittances hit new highs in the country in the first two weeks of November 2020.

According to the Finance Ministry, the expatriates in 12 days of the current month have sent $1 billion which is an all-time high in the country's remittance history.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal expressed his gratitude and thanks to the expatriates for this unprecedented achievement of the government under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

According to the notification, migrant workers have sent $1.066 billion remittances in just 12 days of November, which is an all-time high. As a result, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal expressed his gratitude to those concerned.

In the current fiscal year 2020-2021, from July to November 12, Bangladesh received $9.891 billion remittances, which is 43.42 percent higher compared to the same period of the previous year. It was 6.897 in the same period of the last fiscal year 2019-2020. Various measures, including a timely two percent cash incentive by the government, have a significant impact on the continuation of this upward trend in expatriate income.

In this regard, the Finance Minister said, the impact of Covid-19 has caused a major economic crisis in the world. During this time, our remittance fighters have been instrumental in keeping our economy afloat by sending money with difficulty.
