Bangladesh logs 8 Covid-19 deaths, 385 cases in 24hrs

Eight more COVID-19 patients died in the country while 385 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.

With the new fatalities, the death toll from the pandemic has risen to 8,408 in the country, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in a press release on Saturday (February 28, 2021). 

Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 5,46,216 as 385 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.  

Earlier on Saturday, 407 COVID-19 patients were diagnosed while five deaths related to the disease were reported.

According to the release, the recovery count rose to 496,924 after another 817 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.

As many as 13,411 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours, yielding a positivity rate of 2.87 percent.

The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
