Bangladesh logs 40 COVID deaths, 2,576 fresh cases in 24hrs

The number of deaths and fresh cases from coronavirus has increased today in Bangladesh as compared to the previous days. The country has reported 40 more Covid-19 deaths in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll from the pandemic to 12,989.
Besides, the overcall caseload has surged to 820,395 as 2,576 fresh cases were confirmed during the period.
The database on Covid-19 was revealed in a press release by the routine daily statement of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday (June 10, 2021)
The press release said 13.25 percent of the 19,447 samples tested across the country in the last 24 hours – 2,576 people were yielding COVID-positive cases.
The samples were tested at 509 authorized medical laboratories across the country during the time as the government put in efforts to increase the number of testing centers gradually with the resurgence of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 759,630 after another 2,061 patients were recovered from the illness during the period.
The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning, 92.59 percent recovered, while 1.58 percent died.
Earlier on Wednesday, 36 deaths linked to COVID-19 and 2537 fresh cases were reported.
As of Thursday afternoon, a total of 175,216,068 people has been diagnosed with coronavirus worldwide, as the death toll climbs to 3,778,163 while 158,740,771 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data.
The coronavirus that was first reported in China in 2019 is now affecting 220 countries and territories around the world.
