We do not recognize Israel as a country. As long as we do not recognize, no Bangladeshi will be able to go there. Any Bangladeshi who goes there will be punished, said Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen.
“Bangladesh is a close friend of Palestine. We have been by their side since 1972,” he said while speaking after handing over a gift of medicines to the Palestinians at the state guest house Padma in the capital on Wednesday.
The Foreign Minister said some media in Bangladesh are creating “confusion” about the passport amendment. However, our position on Israel is very clear. “Our position on Palestinian policy has not changed,” he added.
Medicines worth Tk 40 lakh were handed over to Palestine at the event. These materials will be provided to the victims of the recent Israeli attack on Palestine.
Palestinian Ambassador to Dhaka Yusuf S. Y. Ramadan, Foreign Secretary Masud bin Momen and Beacon Pharmaceuticals MD Ebadul Karim were present on the occasion.
