After showing dominance with the bat in the first two days of the first test match, the Tigers crossed 500 in the morning and declared the innings after bagging a huge run score of 541 by losing seven wickets against Sri Lanka at Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
After the rain on the second day of the match, the game was halted due to low light, as a result, the third day’s game was started 15 minutes earlier. Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das came to the crease with 474 runs for 4 wickets. They focused on scoring quick runs.
Liton, who has been playing aggressively from the start, completed his career’s 8th fifty off 66 balls. Before this, Mushfiqur made his 23rd fifty off 120 balls. In the end, he remained unbeaten on 68 runs.
The tailenders could not do much after Liton returned to the dugout in the Vishwa Fernando’s over. Mehidy Hasan Miraz was dismissed for 3 and Taijul Islam for 2. Vishwa Fernando was the most successful bowler of Sri Lanka with 4 wickets.
Earlier, Bangladesh scored 400 runs by losing 4 wickets after the tea break on the second day on Thursday. After adding 9 runs to the scoreboard, the game was stopped due to rain.
However, the two teams returned to the field within 10 minutes. The umpires were forced to stop the match again due to lack of light even though the match was going on at its own pace.
Bangladesh 1st innings: 541/7d; Shanto 163, Mominul 127, Tamim 90, Mushfiqur 68, Liton 50; Vishwa Fernando 96/4.
