Finance Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal has said that if the current government is in power for the next five years, Bangladesh will become the fifth tiger in Asia for economy.
He was speaking after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic and Public Procurement on Wednesday afternoon.
At this time, the Finance Minister expressed hope that the coming days and the coming Independence Days will come, let them be more enlightened.
“Our achievements in each of the economic and social indicators are much higher,” he said. “We are now at number 41. Now no one calls us poor country.”
The Minister said, “We have made remarkable progress in the last 10 years before Coronavirus. Four Asian tigers were considered from 1960 to 1990 and then for 30 years. They have achieved GDP growth in the ratio of 6, 7, 8. And we have gone to 6, 7, 8 in the same sequence.
“If we stay another five years, I firmly believe we can become the fifth Asian Tiger," he added.
