Bangladesh has continued the domination against Sri Lanka in the first test of the series. After declaring the innings with a huge run score, the Tigers also pressurized the hosts with the ball. The bowlers did not give the Sri Lankan batsmen a chance for a rapid run chase.
Till the lunch break, Sri Lanka scored 11 runs without losing a wicket. Dimuth Karunaratne and Lahiru Thirimanne are both unbeaten on 5 runs.
Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque declared the innings with 541 runs for seven wickets. Karunaratne and Thirimanne came down to open the innings for Sri Lanka.
The Tigers could have got a wicket in the over just before lunch. Karunaratne misunderstood Taskin’s delivery. When he went to leave, the umpire gave out when the ball hit his pad. However, he survived with the review.
Earlier, Bangladesh started the third day with 474 runs for 4 wickets. Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das focused on scoring quick runs from the start.
Liton, who played aggressively from the start, completed his career’s 8th fifty off 66 balls. Before this, Mushfiqur made his 23rd fifty off 120 balls. In the end, he remained unbeaten on 68 runs.
The tailenders could not do much after Liton returned to the dugout in the Vishwa Fernando’s over. Mehidy Hasan Miraz was dismissed for 3 and Taijul Islam for 2. Vishwa Fernando was the most successful bowler of Sri Lanka with 4 wickets.
