Bangladesh again counted 51 deaths, detection rate 5.98 pc

Bangladesh has reported again 51 more deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, climbing the tally from the pandemic to 27,109. The country counted 51 COVID deaths on Wednesday too. 

The overall COVID caseload, on the other hand, stood at 15,38,203 as 1,862 people were tested positive for the virus in the preceding 24 hours.

It was said in a press release signed by Professor Dr. Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday.

According to DGHS, the recovery count rose to 14,94,090 after another 3,549 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period. 

DGHS said as many as 31,149 samples were collected in the span of 24 hours, yielding a virus detection rate of 5.98 percent.

The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning 97.13 percent recovered, while 1.76 percent died.

The highest single-day deaths 264 from Covid-19 were reported on Tuesday (August 10).

The first Covid-19 cases were reported in Bangladesh on March 8, 2020, while the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
