Bangladesh-Japan foreign secretary-level talks today

The foreign secretarial-level meeting, known as Foreign Office Consultation (FOC), between Bangladesh and Japan is scheduled to be held on Thursday. Bangladesh will seek to develop a strategic partnership with Japan.
Foreign Ministry sources said on Thursday that the meeting would be held virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic. The two countries will discuss various bilateral issues.
According to Foreign Ministry sources, Japanese senior deputy foreign minister Hiroshi Suzuki will lead his side, while Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque will lead the Bangladesh delegation.
The first foreign secretary-level meeting between the two countries was held in Dhaka in 2016 and the second meeting in 2018 in Tokyo. This is the third time the meeting is being held.
