“Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Dhaka Marathon 2021”, organized by Bangladesh Army, will be held on January 10 marking the homecoming day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

A press conference, conducted by Director of IT Directorate of Army Headquarters Brigadier General AKM Aminul Haque, was held in this regard at the auditorium of Bangladesh Olympic Association on Tuesday. 

It has been informed in the press conference that about 200 runners, including elite ones from home and abroad and Saarc countries, will participate in the marathon. The 42.195-km full marathon and 21.097-km half marathon will start from the Army Stadium and end at Hatirjheel. The route will be Bangladesh Army Stadium-Kakoli Crossing-Kemal Ataturk Avenue-Gulshan 2-Gulshan 1-Police Plaza-Hatirjheel (complete Hatirjheel will end with four rounds). 

100 local and foreign runners will participate in the full marathon which will start from Army Stadium at 06:30 am while half marathon will kick off at 6:40 am with the participation of 100 Bangladeshi runners. All the participants will have to take part in the marathon after testing negative for coronavirus.

Chief Coordinator of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Dhaka Marathon-2021 Organising Committee Brigadier General Salim Ahmad Khan, Colonel Staff of MT Directorate Colonel Md Shawkat Osman, Chairman of Sports Vision Ltd Capt Saifur Rahman, and General Secretary of Bangladesh Athletics Federation Advocate Abdur Rakib Montu were present at the press conference.
