To commemorate the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, ‘Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games’ will be organized by Bangladesh Olympic Association in different divisional cities including Dhaka from April 1-10.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the executive committee chaired by Bangladesh Olympic Association President General Aziz Ahmed at Kurmitola Golf Club on Saturday.
A ten-day sports festival will be held with about 8,500 people including players, team officials and technical officials of the game management.
It was also decided that Bangladesh would participate in 13 disciplines in the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games to be held in Kenya, Turkey from September 10-19.
The disciplines are – athletics, football, swimming, wrestling, archery, gymnastics, taekwondo, basketball, handball, weightlifting, fencing, karate, volleyball.
The executive committee also decided that Bangladesh will participate in 15 disciplines in the 19th Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China from September 10-22.
The disciplines are – swimming, fencing, kabaddi, taekwondo, archery, football, karate, weightlifting, athletics, golf, bridge, basketball, gymnastics, roller skating, cricket, hockey, shooting.
