Ban on motor vehicles from Saturday midnight

The Election Commission (EC) has imposed restrictions on all types of vehicular movement except ‘sticker motorcycle’ from Saturday midnight to Sunday 12:00 am on the occasion for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The ban includes - Baby Taxi / Auto rickshaw / Easy Bike, Taxi Cab, Microbus, Jeep, Pickup, Car, Bus, Truck, Tempos, Local Machine Vehicles.

Meanwhile, there is a ban on movement of motorcycle in the country for four days from midnight (12:00 am) to Jan 1 midnight (12:00 am).

It has been learned that during the restriction of traffic movement, candidates and their election agents, domestic and foreign observers (must have identity cards) can bring down vehicles with the permission of the returning officers.

Besides, journalists engaged in collecting news gathering (must have identity cards), officers and employees engaged in election, law-enforcers, legal observers of the election and some urgent tasks like ambulance, fire service, electricity, gas, post, telecommunications etc. vehicles will be out of ban. 

Apart from this, the Highways, Ports and emergency related authorities can take effective measures to ease the ban.
