All water vessels on the Shimulia-Kathalbari route in the Padma river of Munshiganj district were suspended due to bad weather.
Authorities suspended launches and speedboats from Friday morning after strong winds and rain started.
According to BIWTA’s Kathalbari Ghat, ferry services have already been suspended due to the navigability crisis.
The source further said that due to the light pressure in the Bay of Bengal, strong winds and rains are continuing. As a result, Padma has become turbulent. Strong currents in the Padma river forced to stop operations of launches and speedboats since early morning to avoid any risk.
Akhter Hossain, a traffic inspector at BIWTA’s Kathalbari launch ghat, said water vessels were suspended due to inclement weather.
