BUET student Abrar`s murder charge hearing today

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Abrar Fahad Rabbi murder case is scheduled to be heard today.
The charge will be heard in the court of Judge Abu Jafar Md. Kamruzzaman of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 on Wednesday.
On March 22, the same court fixed April 8 for the hearing of the chargesheet. But the hearing did not take place because of Corona. On August 9, the court set a new date for the hearing of the charges.
The accused are: Mehedi Hasan Russell, former General Secretary of BUET Branch of BCL, Muhtamim Fouad, Ex-Joint General Secretary, Anik Sarkar alias Apu, Mehedi Hasan Robin alias Shant, Amit Saha, Ifti, Musharraf Sakal, Meftahul Islam Zion, Ishtiaq Ahmed Munna, Muntasir Al Jemi, Khandaker Tabakhkharul Islam Tanvir, Mujahidur Rahman, Moniruzzaman Monir, Akash Hossain, Hossain Mohammad Toha, Majed Rahman, Majed Rahman Abu Hurairah, ASM Nazmus Sadat, Abrar's roommate Mizanur Rahman, Shamsul Arefin Rafat, Morshed Amatya Islam, SM Mahmud Setu, Muhammad Morshed-uz-Zaman Mandal alias Jisan, Ehteshamul Rabbi alias Tanim and Mujtaba Rafid.
The first 22 of the accused are in jail and three are fugitives. In addition, eight people have given confessional statements in court.
It may be mentioned that on the night of October 6, 2019, Abrar Fahad was rescued from the stairs of the second floor of Sher-e-Bangla Hall of BUET. He was later taken to Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital where doctors declared him dead. Abrar's father Barkatullah filed a murder case with the Chawkbazar police station over the incident. On November 13 last year, DB police inspector (unarmed) Wahiduzzaman, the investigating officer in the case, filed a chargesheet against 25 people.
